A consumer could lose as much as sixty percent of their heat because of a poorly insulated home. Yet around the world people are spending large sums of money to heat their homes. This problem can be eliminated if the consumer is willing to wisely insulate their homes. This can be done by Flat Roof, Foam, Attics, Pipe Insulation, Materials being insulated properly.

Foam is one of the most commonly used products for insulating a home. Foam rather in liquid form or boards are an effective way in making a home energy efficient. Using foam to fill wall cavities and ceiling helps to decrease the amount of heat that escapes from the  help heat from escaping through the attic, foam can be used to insulated under the roof rafters. Another way to cut down on heat escaping is to seal up the door to the attic stairs and the box in the stair case with foam boards.

Basements and roofs tend to leak cause heat to escape do to poor insulation and cracks. Liquid foam can be used to seal these cracks and foam can be used to fill the hollow cement blocks. To prevent moisture from coming into the basement, sheets of foam can be put on the walls as a vapor barrier. If the house has a flat roof, foam can be sprayed into the rafters, which would cause the air from escaping and moisture from building up between the rafters. A flat roof can also be insulated with foam board covered by a rubber membrane that will hold the heat in and the water out.

About twelve percent of a consumer’s energy bill is the hot water heater. To cut back on the amount of energy the water heat uses, a piece of foam insulation can be used around the hot and cold water pipes connected to the heater. Another place to save energy is to caulk air leaks around plumbing and electrical outlets and switches and insert foams gaskets. Foam can also be used to seal any leaks in existing insulation where heat is escaping or cold air is leaking. Foam sealant can be used to seal leaky windows or along baseboard.

There are many ways to help save energy costs. How the consumer goes about cutting costs, depends on how much money they want to spend. In the UK, there is a program set where in which people who are seventy and over or those who get benefits may qualify for a grant that helps them to insulate the loft of their home.… READ MORE ...
