A century ago, homeschooling was the only way to give children a healthy education, but today, it is a choice among many methods of educating children to the level needed. Parents choose homeschooling for their children for several reasons. It could be parents’ attitudes toward public or private schools in the area, children’s disabilities, motivation to achieve goals greater than those set at school, etc.
In order for home schooling to be as effective as the education given to a child in a school environment, it is important for parents / tutors to get appropriate homeschooling material. National law states that every child must be given the same opportunity, thus, not giving children the right age according to lessons, activities and material will not only deprive children of their basic rights, but also violate the law.
The number one material that teachers must have is the home education curriculum (goals, objectives, and time frame for achievement according to the age and requirements of the child). For example, a child must develop certain mathematical or language skills within a certain age limit, unless he is diagnosed with learning disabilities. To know this, the curriculum must be referred.
The next important material is the textbook. Once again, relevant textbooks / work books / reading materials used at school must be provided for children. These textbooks and related material such as lessons recorded with audio, video, worksheets, etc., will make the teaching process also easier for tutors. We must pay special attention to the fact that the child will not get the opportunity to socialize and engage in activities with peer groups.
In addition to ensuring children are included in outside team sports, clubs and communities in the community, homeschooling material must be designed so that they can learn interactively. For example, lessons about culture can be turned into activities where children interview people of all ages in their community and prepare reports about it.
